Simone offers assessment and treatment for a broad range of emotional, psychological and behavioral difficulties in children. These include anxiety, anger, depression and low self-esteem, as well as school-related problems, including peer relationships, problems with friendships and bullying. Simone also has experience and interest in helping children cope with issues of grief and loss, including coping with parental separation and divorce.
Simone values and utilizes creativity in her work with children, combining sand-play, art, and other play therapy techniques with more structured behavioral programs, where indicated. Throughout the process Simone welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively with parents, as well as teachers, carers and other agencies involved with the child.
Simone has a particular interest in working with parents around parenting issues and skills, either as an adjunct to her work with the child, or as a separate concern. She also has an interest in peri- and post-natal depression and supporting women - and men - through this potentially vulnerable period in their lives.
